BAILEY GUINN | WAKENING WATER

Project overview

North of Salt Lake City, Utah, lie two adjoining parks: Warm Springs and North Gateway. At 20 acres, these spaces have largely supported people through the use of their warm springs. While the primary focus of the site is centered around healing and recreation, the area has remained unsettled due to prolonged periods of social and environmental challenges. By conducting thorough, in-depth cultural research, a list of programs designed to aid in healing will be developed. This process involves delving into the traditions and practices of the community and tribes to ensure that the programs resonate. Therefore, water provides a compelling value proposition for enhancing these parks environmentally and socially by facilitating circulation, programming, and restoration efforts.

MEET BAILEY

As a motivated master’s student in Landscape Architecture at Utah State University with a passion for creating equitable spaces, I enjoy focusing on projects that enhance community well-being while advocating for environmental stewardship. Much of my inspiration comes from the many people I meet; each interaction offers valuable insights that inform my design approach. Engaging with diverse individuals and community members helps me understand their unique needs and challenges, allowing me to create inclusive spaces that foster connection and belonging. Outside of my academic pursuits, I enjoy trail running to connect with nature. This activity allows me to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors while fostering mindfulness and resilience, all of which enrich my personal and professional life.
